The competition opens on Monday 7th January 2019 and the closing date is Monday 18th February 2019.
The Semi-Final will take place on the 24th of March 2019 and the Grand Final takes place on Monday 27th May 2019 at The Clayton Hotel, Dublin.
Applicants will need to enter with a photograph of their model following the category brief. This is submitted by building an online profile and completing the entry form.
For the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Star Award, entrants will additionally need to submit a ‘before’ photo of their model prior to any colour work performed on the model’s hair. The ‘before’ photo should be a side or front shot only.
No, for 2019 we will not be accepting any postal entries. All entries must be submitted online.
This is up to you. We can accept a head or full length shot, but remember, this is a hair competition so the hair needs to be an important factor in the photograph that you submit.
Entry requirements are very strict so for all photos submitted, they must be in colour and be in a .jpeg or .tiff; format with minimum size of 3MB and a maximum size of 7MB.

New for 2019! An individual can only enter once. Each team entering MUST have a different colourist and stylist and each team must complete a unique profile online using a different username and email address.
Yes, you can across all categories, as long as the extensions are coloured using L’Oréal Professionnel colour and the extensions make up no more than 20% of the overall hair.
In order to compete in the competition and to attend any of the live events, you must be 16 years or older.
The photographic entry judging will take place on Monday 4th March 2019. The salons successfully through to the next stage of the competition will be announced online on Wednesday 6th March 2019.
No, it can be a different model. However, should you get through to the Grand Final you must use the same model as you used at the Semi-Final.
Yes, if you get through to the Grand Final, your model must remain the same. However, for the L'Oréal Colour Trophy Award, the overall look on the model i.e. the hair style, colour and clothes styling must change between the Semi-Final and Grand Final.
For the L'Oréal Men's Image and L'Oréal Colour Trophy Star Awards, the overall look must remain the same as presented at the Semi-Final.

No, this is not necessary. You just need a photogenic model who you believe can best represent your look according to the 2019 brief. Often you can be more creative on a model’s hair when they are not professional. Please remember that if your salon makes it through to the Semi-Final, your model should be confident, ‘own’ the look you have created on them and walk convincingly down the catwalk in front of the assembled audience.
