No, for 2019 we will not be accepting any postal entries. All entries must be submitted online.

This is up to you. We can accept a head or full length shot, but remember, this is a hair competition so the hair needs to be an important factor in the photograph that you submit.

Entry requirements are very strict so for all photos submitted, they must be in colour and be in a .jpeg or .tiff; format with minimum size of 3MB and a maximum size of 7MB.

Please refer to each award brief found in the terms and conditions.

Yes, you can across all categories, as long as the extensions are coloured using L’Oréal Professionnel colour and the extensions make up no more than 20% of the overall hair.

This is a category exclusively for colourists who are between the ages of 16-25 on the entry closing date 18th February 2019. Please refer to The Awards and Terms and Conditions sections for further information.

  • At the Semi-Final each Star Finalist will need to bring a mood-board with them reflecting their inspiration behind their look as well as a model with the colour already pre-done on the hair. Each Star Finalist will be interviewed by the judges who will inspect the colour work on the live model and interview them about their aspirations as colourists.
  • Each Star Finalist will then compete in the live 30-minute competition to finish the style on the model’s hair. They may bring a stylist from the salon with them to do the styling if they wish although this is not mandatory. Their models will be catwalked along with all the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Award and Men’s Image Award models and judged finally by the judges.
  • A maximum of 35 teams for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Award
  • A maximum of 20 teams for the L’Oréal Men’s Image Award
  • A maximum of 10 teams for the L’Oréal Colour Trophy Star Award

In order to compete in the competition and to attend any of the live events, you must be 16 years or older.

No, it can be a different model. However, should you get through to the Grand Final you must use the same model as you used at the Semi-Final.

Yes, if you get through to the Grand Final, your model must remain the same.  However, for the L'Oréal Colour Trophy Award, the overall look on the model i.e. the hair style, colour and clothes styling must change between the Semi-Final and Grand Final.

For the L'Oréal Men's Image and L'Oréal Colour Trophy Star Awards, the overall look must remain the same as presented at the Semi-Final.

Please refer to the terms and conditions for the full details.

No, this is not necessary. You just need a photogenic model who you believe can best represent your look according to the 2019 brief. Often you can be more creative on a model’s hair when they are not professional. Please remember that if your salon makes it through to the Semi-Final, your model should be confident, ‘own’ the look you have created on them and walk convincingly down the catwalk in front of the assembled audience.

The L’Oréal Colour Trophy Grand Final takes place on Monday 27th May 2019 at The Clayton Hotel, Dublin.
